Infrastructure
Distribution Technology Inc. information technology infrastructure is a combination of multiple hardware and software environments as well as trained IT systems and operations professionals providing the best support and function to our customers. The heart of the system is a fault tolerant Hewlett Packard business server running a full mirrored disk subsystem. It is backed up by a second server residing in another location connected with a redundant fiber optic LAN. Our high availability is augmented up by off site secure stored backups that are tested for archival recovery.

The network technology includes a Frame Relay allowing for simplified scalability in connection points as well as pure volume of transfer. Redundancy is built in through tested VPN communications. This WAN includes firewall protected internet access and isolated servers providing current reporting of order, receipt, and inventory status. EDI is supported by redundant access to our multiple VANs via internet with backup dial-up functionality and is transceived between 6am and 11pm EST. The local area networking involves a robust combination of fiber optic, gigabit cat 5, wireless, and radio frequency communications to various clients and wireless devices. File and print sharing is done thru Novell, Microsoft, and Unix servers providing the quickest communication within our organization.

Equipment from Rabun Labs detects the threat of lightning and automatically protects the core of the systems infrastructure by isolating the danger. UPS and generators provide clean power and protection from electrical anomalies. The server room has a dedicated environmental control system with a backup system.

WMS/EDI
Our application suite includes best of breed technologies running on versions of Oracle RDBMS platforms (Unix and Windows servers). The warehousing software system provides the cornerstone of the operation. The WMS software is integrated with various EDI communication tools. to provide customers seamless integration with their existing systems. Distribution Technology can supply our customers with a broad array of EDI transaction sets depending upon your needs.

Client Reporting
We provide near real time replication to a java/web based front end for customers. Reports can be generated ad-hoc or scheduled and delivered via e-mail, US mail, and fax. FTP and custom file creation and extraction is also used for customers not able to communicate with EDI. Faxes received outside of normal business hours are forwarded to mobile phone e-mail for expeditious handling.

RF/Barcode applications
Forklifts are equipped with RF for immediate inventory and tracking updates. Custom Barcode printing and scanning are used to increase accuracy and minimize error. These tools assist in very accurate and timely builds of pallets for our customers.
