DIVISIONS
Warehousing Division - At present, over 1.0 million square feet of warehouse space is utilized for a variety of services including public warehousing, cross docking, and plant replenishment. The operation utilizes real time inventory control and has full EDI capabilities. Approximately two hundred people are employed with these operations, servicing over one hundred twenty-five corporate manufacturing, national and international accounts. Approximately one billion pounds of product throughput is handled annually. The company is non-union and shares its profits with employees.
 Transportation Services - Our professional traffic and distribution group is licensed and regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission. DTI has 48 state contract carrier authority and offers a very competitive truckload and LTL program to our customers. DTI also offers freight consolidation services associated with its national and regional freight management programs.
Distribution Technology Trucking - We operate in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee, and is a licensed U.S. Customs cartman. Our trucking operation provides our customers with truckload and LTL deliveries as well as just-in-time plant replenishment services. We currently operate 10 power units and 75 trailers.
Piedmont Pallet Company - This company was primarily formed to supply our Sam's Club operations with pallets. Since its inception in 1992, this operation has grown to also refurbish pallets, and buy and sell pallets to the general public.
Foreign Trade Zone - North Carolina's first Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is operated by Piedmont Distribution Centers to stimulate and expedite international commerce by providing duty-free and quota free entry of foreign goods into a designated area for an unlimited amount of time. Although this area is supervised by U.S. Customs, the Zone is officially considered to be outside of U.S. territory offering many advantages to the international user. We also provide bonded storage and a container facility offering import and export services.
Record Storage Systems - Provides hard copy file and data storage to include microfilming, document destruction, records management consulting, specialized protection, controlled security, destruction, vault storage, indexing and cataloging, and offers pick up and delivery service in the Charlotte area. The division was started in January 1986 as an integral part of the company's full distribution service to our many customers.
